Nishan Shengyuan College seminar discusses modern academies and cultural inheritance

The International Confucian Association and Nishan Shengyuan College organized a symposium on modern academy construction and the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture in Ji’ning, Shandong province on October 21-22, 2023. 

Zhang Jian, an ICA vice president and the Nishan Shengyuan College president, delivered a speech. Several other notable figures, including Wang Hongqiang, Sishui county magistrate, and Shi Yongqi, deputy secretary-general and director of the Committee for Education and Promotion of the ICA, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Yu Jianfu, an ICA vice president and the Nishan Shengyuan College vice president, presided over the opening ceremony.

Zhao Fasheng, deputy director of the Committee of Education and Promotion of the ICA and executive vice president of the college, presented a work report.

Keynote speeches were given by eight experts and scholars from research and cultural institutes across the country. They discussed topics such as academy education, academy revival, rural Confucianism, and the modern role of academies. The session was chaired by Sun Baoshan, professor at the Minzu University of China and vice executive director of Nishan Shengyuan College.

The symposium received a total of 50 conference papers, and over 30 experts and scholars exchanged views at the event.
