Sun Chunlan, president of the International Confucian Association (ICA), met with Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, princess of Thailand, in Bangkok on June 9.
Sun thanked Sirindhorn for her support for the 2025 Hehe Civilization Forum held in Bangkok and praised her for her long-standing commitment to promoting Chinese culture and fostering mutual understanding between the two countries, describing her as a long-time friend of the Chinese people and a witness to enduring China-Thailand friendship.
Highlighting the significance of the Hehe Civilization Forum, Sun emphasized that the event serves as a key platform for high-level global civilizational dialogue spearheaded by the ICA. This year’s forum, held in conjunction with the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, is also an important cultural event commemorating the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and the Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship. She expressed the ICA's willingness to deepen cultural exchanges and cooperation with Thailand under the spirit of “China and Thailand as one family”.
Sirindhorn warmly welcomed the ICA delegation and congratulated the ICA and the Thai-Chinese Cultural and Relationship Council on the successful co-hosting of the forum. She fondly recalled the deep bonds she has formed with China and shared stories about her engagement with Chinese culture and efforts to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.
Sirindhorn emphasized that Thailand and China are good neighbors, friends, relatives, and partners. With long-standing friendship as a foundation, there is broad potential for cooperation in areas such as culture, education, and technological innovation. She commended the ICA’s efforts in promoting dialogue and mutual learning among civilizations and expressed her hope for continued efforts to strengthen the cultural bond between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by Han Zhiqiang, Chinese ambassador to Thailand, as well as representatives from the ICA and Peking University.
